Vivien Allender has been exploring the world since the age of seventeen when she first moved to Japan from her native Australia.

Here her broad fascination with world popular culture was further stimulated and refined. Her career started in Tokyo, where she photographed and wrote about the pop and youth cultures of Japan for a range of publications including Vogue (Australia). With a focus on fashion, both commercial and editorial her work has been featured around the globe in print and ad campaigns.

Later, shifting focus, Vivien completed a master's degree at Victorian College of the Arts at Melbourne University. She currently lives and works in New York but loves traveling and that has always influenced her photographic work.

Transcending cultural identity her work remains engaged with current social topics of race, creed, nationalism and globalism of cultural and pop cultural associations.
